Comparing the situation between AMD/Intel and Intel/Apple is really apples to oranges.

Right now the A9X, in probably the world's most popular mobile CPU benchmark, beats any Core m processor that you can currently buy; certainly it is faster in this benchmark than Apple's current MacBooks.

But I would argue that consumers really don't care. If you're in the market for a PC running Windows/Mac OS, you're going to buy a PC regardless of what kind of performance is available in an iOS-powered iPad/iPhone or an Android device.

If your preferred form factor is a tablet, then whether that tablet has 20% higher or 20% lower performance than a Core m is also probably immaterial; people buy devices , not chips (unless you are a DIY PC enthusiast but Intel has this segment on lockdown, no worries there).

By the way, I tried out an iPad Pro at an Apple store and while I do appreciate the technical achievement, I actually cancelled my order for it after using it for about 10 minutes. I found myself actually wishing that the new MacBooks came with Skylake because that would be a much more interesting/worthwhile purchase for me (I don't want to spend a dime on Broadwell-U/Y at this point).
