Yes, that is the question. I'm not sure we'll ever have an answer, unless some of the CRGP people are eventually dragged into court.

I don't think paying that gigantic dividend was intended as a selfless gesture. But when I initially looked at it, I thought the idea was for their then majority shareholder, Industrias Calissio, to benefit. After all, at the record date, Industrias Calissio owned 90% of the commons. An excellent way to launder money. And since they said they intended to pay additional cash divvies, for Industrias Calissio it could have been a gift that kept on giving.

If that were really the intention, they wouldn't have known about the "loophole" till late in the game. But when they found out, evidently they decided to take the money and run.
