I've heard it implied that if the data is not "good enough," the "game" is over. I don't buy that at all. Anyone who thinks these GREAT minds have come to this company, only to retreat, is imho "dead-wrong."

Regardless, these minds will "roll up their sleeves," and work even harder. They know they're "on to" something big, so they'll just come back to work, "roll up their sleeves" and work harder.
