If he does not come clean and ask for protection then I think his life's work will go down the drain. I don't whish that on anyone but Joe is the fall guy right now. With his timeline at hand he should preserve what he has and regroup what he has left.

Sounds like an extortionate threat to me.

Walther was already obligated to report any criminal actions to the authorities. Not doing so is not going to end well for him I'm afraid.
