I agree about the "C". It certainly isn't needed. I think Varitek wears it as a sign of respect to those who voted for him. I seriously doubt it was his idea.
Since Boston is such a big hockey town, someone decided that he should wear a "C" like the Bruins Captains and most other hockey teams. At least that is my assumption.
I am sorry to disrupt your board. I would prefer to keep things about baseball. I have very strong opinions, and like in the real world, for many that is a lightning rod to attack. Especially as they relate to the Yankees.
"To thine own self be true" is a motto I live by and I have to be what I am. I don't sugar coat and I don't pussy foot, I never have and I never will. It doesn't always make me popular, but I am not running a popularity contest, I am simply stating my views.
Some decide when they can not make headway at one of these boards they take something that they know will be inflamitory to another board. It is really sad when they do it as a pretext of trying to bring peace when they know it will do just the opposite.
I certainly don't like to waste my time answering all the crap, but when attacked I fight back.
