I work in corporate finance for a mid size company that is growing globally. Much of our group has been driven acquisitions globally and historically domestically.
I probably see 3-4 deal books a quarter and we do due diligence for 1 per quarter. We have not won a bid in over 2 years as we are very disciplined in our purchase price and multiples. As a company our best and worst trait is our rigidness and mechanical nature. We are seeing deals go off at considerably higher multiples we think is appropriate and is driven by the cheap cost of debt.
I don't see Syncora being acquired as a good idea as the largest value of the company is its NOL. Being acquired we would lose this. My catalysts are: 1. buy back prd's or debt at a discount 2. start writing new business (the Major catalyst for me) 3. Investment via debt to be able to use NOLs or investment needed to write business.
