Ok noobie here...for experienced old timers et al, what are the relative advantages/disadvantages of a reverse split?

I get being listed brings credibility,legitimacy and tons of new eyeballs, and also potential partnerships etc

What are the down sides?

Does it simply make sense to buy more today before 4 PM as the last chance to do so before the reverse?
