It was beyond funny. The perps lived in Jalisco, where drug-related murders are common. Perhaps they miscalculated, thinking people north of the border would consider the incident sad, but commonplace. Not so. The Dallas Morning News took an interest:

And then ABC News piled on, sending a Spanish-speaking reporter and a camera crew, with predictably hilarious results. That was WAY more attention than the company expected or wanted.
