You are right that each roll is independant but the odds are the same either way. There is a 16% chance of a win.
If they fail you can add another side and the odds drop to 14% then 12% ect.

There is always a chance.

But the die isnt random. You are not accounting for the person rolling it and not trying to do it right.

If you slide the die there is no way to win. The same losing number will keep coming up.

You have to know how to roll to have a chance to win
