Bim and Gunnery: I have also been following the VHC story. Most of the re-exams they have won were do to a mistake of the lawyers for Apple in not requesting or petitioning the USPO timely. They also prevailed on several others when they settled with Microsoft.

Statistically, the Patent Board still continues to invalidate almost all patents in about 85% of the petitions for obviousness.

I have read that patent values in this the United States have been reduced by billions of dollars as a result of our wonderful Congress trying to protect Apple, Google, MSFT, NOK, ZTE and the other giants from us Trolls and NPEs.
