maybe the gps coordinates are wrong but there are mines around those areas and none of them are claimed. just because the gps is off a little doesnt mean the mines dont exist. who knows how old those satellite pics are. you say you dont see a big hole in the ground, well thats because there isnt and there shouldnt be. when you start to mine a open pit mine you dont just start digging a hole it wouldnt be possible or practical. after all the papers are filed and surveying is done then they have to trench and drill for core samples, then they blast and finally start to dig. they have to clear entire mountains away before they can dig below the original surface. it takes along time. it should look exactly like it does! how did they get in there before the road was cut? drive truck atv utv, drive heavey equipment when your in a loader or dozer you make your own roads, hike maybe even fly in on a helicopter who knows many ways!
