Details of the Conference attended by BIEL:
“The 9th Congress of the European Pain Federation, EFIC® (EFIC 2015) will shine a spotlight on current trends and future developments in pain medicine. EFIC® has long been known as the European leader in the field of pain, and its European congresses harness the expertise and experience of 36 national Pain Chapters, representing more than 20,000 healthcare professionals.” This was the first time BIEL has had attended an international pain conference. The conference had 4,000 attendees.
There was a constant flow of visitors to the stand and at some times of the day it was overwhelmed. There were the usual suspects exhibiting at the congress and our stand looked very much as it belonged. In fact, many of the other exhibitors wandered by to find out what we were all about.
We now have sufficient data to be able to engage with doctors to raise awareness of our new technology at pain conferences! Sample and retail devices were very much a topic of discussion and were an excellent way of engaging with the doctors. It is clear that when doctors show an interest it leads to quite lengthy conversations and difficult questions, which require medical knowledge to explain as the docs, want a detailed explanation of mechanism and the supporting data.
We were extremely fortunate to have Dr Bagnato’s OA knee abstract, which contained data for the full 60 patients and not the interim from the EULAR last year. This abstract was very well received and we relied on it heavily to address the questions on objective evidence.
Collaborating with Austrian academics is very important:
* Their endorsement will drive adoption and recommendation by the Austrian doctors and pharmacies
* Austrian medicine is of a very high standard and publications from Austria are well regarded
* Strengthens BIEL’s clinical portfolio
Summary
This was a very successful and worthwhile congress for BIEL/Oneglobebio. We have demonstrated that we can engage credibly with the medical pain community and raise awareness of the technology.
