This also seems like a good possibility. Were the shares actually issued by the company or sold short before the fact thinking the div wasn't going to be paid and it didn't matter? Was there an opinion letter from an attorney in regard to the conversion? I doubt E trade is looking out for shareholders just in case the dividend gets taken away. No one else seems to feel like that's a concern.
