denmo, I think you are missing the point. Of course having one or two big swingers on a team is fine. When 75% or your lineup is that way, then you are not setting your team up for success, especially in the pressure cooker of the playoffs!

As for:

I don't think they're dumping any of their young studs.

What the Cubs did the last 4 years is not going to be tossed out for a quick splash. This team is set up well. Everybody in baseball knows it.



No one is suggesting they "dump" the talent! They will be able to get very nice returns for the right players and also since they are young, get some additional restocking of the minor league system. The trade is to get some speed/contact/average hitters to mix into the swing or bust lineup.
