All star voting

I think it is time to take the voting out of the fans hands and put it with the managers. Not allow them to vote for their own players.

This year the Red Sox and Yankees hold 7 of the 8 position players on the team. While they may be the best two teams, they don't hold all the all-stars in the league.

This creates problems for the managers in filling out the rest of the roster as well, as the most deserving players on other teams often get knocked out of the classic because of the rules forcing one player from each team coupled with the above-mentioned voting.

While I enjoy seeing Red Sox in the classic, I don't think players such as Cano, Varitek, Jeter or Damon belong as starters. Big Papi has only played four games at first this year, and while arguably the leagues' best hitter shouldn't be the first base choice either.

Are the Red Sox and Yankees the only teams with all-star caliber players? I don't think so.
