wbmw, I see. I'm not good in marketing.

Do you recall how Mageek said few months ago that there is an internal fight inside AMD corporate and consumer marketing because some people beleives that Opteron makes an absolutely killer gaming machine? I did not exacly understand what the problem is, so I take your explanation.

I hope that one of the two happens: A64 will perform in line with Opteron in gaming benchmarks or AMD will follow your advice and rebrand some of the cheapest Opterons as A64-Pro. After all, A64 accepts cheaper memory.

In the meantime, nothing can stop small OEM's to sell Opteron-based "workstations", but accept orders online from anyone with a credit card. AFAIK the first Asus nForce3 board has regular (not extended) AGP slot, regular 32 bit PCI and will cost around $200. It looks like it is oriented toward volume sub-$1200 market. This is not AMD problem, right, they can't prohibit anyone from selling cheap Opteron "worstations"?

If you are saying that AMD must be careful here - I completely agree.
