Hi Kenboy You misunderstand .

The importance of HDL is its relationship to TG levels .
A 7 / 1 ratio of TG to HDL is highly correlated with increased CV risk...seen in multiple studies .

Take JELIS ... best outcomes were seen with those patients with high TG and low HDL combination .
This lipid profile is typical I believe of Diabetics ...often referred to as an Axis disorder ( I have it HDL never over 40 , TG often over 200 despite max dose Statins , Vascepa gets my TG's down to about 120

So if they ran RI with only TG's over 200 and HDL under 40 patients on Statin treatment ( LDL under 100 ) , I think we would have seen better results , faster .

By the way Dr Nissens's trial ( STRENGHT ) requires HDL under 40 to qualify
