Symphly. I really think people need to really really really read the PR's and all the other information about what the company is doing. Read the Dumas letter and listen to Huff's Cowen interview. I really think it is all there. Your post seemed very very intelligent in nature and graphs etc. but I can't see how you would even come to a silly conclusion like needing multi strats to service a 200 mile radius.
From what I know, which isn't a whole lot in my opinion, Strats don't fly. They hover in one spot 13miles above the earth. They will broadcast to devices (aka hotspots) on the ground. They can then avoid the problem with line of sight because they are so high. In the Dumas letter and others it is clear to me that the strat is only one piece of the whole picture. This company is about Global communications. Huff wants his own internet and then he wants to charge for the usage on a subscriber basis. If he has his own 'superhub' as he calls it and controls it then it isn't bogged down with the overhead etc. that runs on the web now. I know I am spewing right now but really look at the big picture; and also realize that it is not a big secret. They have been forth coming but we have all had $$$$$$ in our eyes. This is potentially bigger than most can imagine. Centerline (which imo will be phased out next year if all goes well), StratePhone (Voice) the first hook imo - gets the kinks out, Magic money (Data)- works out security issues, Hotzone/Wimax/Strat (Media/TV) - final piece = Global SuperHub. Scary stuff, I am glad that it is in the public sector, I hope it stays that way.
