I fell into the frenzy and added yesterday early before leaving for depositions. It turns out that I should have waited, but that is my problem. Sadly, my reason for adding is related to the view of Bulldzer. I cannot think of one reason why the 2 new analysts would initiate coverage at this time on IDCC if the slightest chance for arbitration with Nok still exists. Thus, based on common sense and a true belief that FD is from the same school as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the war on drugs, and no steroids in sports, I made my investment decision. As much as I have followed IDCC, if I made a living as an analyst, I would not iniate coverage unless I had a strong and credible report from a reliable source that Nok was done.
Based on your past dealings with IDCC, do you feel that the present IR and accounting personnel are savy enough to walk through the institutional mine fields as the company moves forward? If not, is there a reference source available to send to these folks that could alert them regarding avoiding pitfalls through the adoption of certain reporting and guidance features that are useful in maintaing a good relationship with analysts and institutions?
Before anyone screams activism or management bashing, I want to state that the better prepared our personnel are in dealing with WS, the better it is for the shareholders. The best lawyers in America receive scouting reports on the judges with whom they have cases pending regarding tendencies, likes and dislikes, pleading preferences and the general protocol that must be complied with in the courtroom. It is certainly not a weakness on the ability of the lawyers to obtain such reports. Each new judge is a different experience and must be an equal part of the research of the attorney. IDCC is entering into a business phase with WS that is certainly new as well as exciting. I would hope that anyone who has scouting reports on the analysts (our new judges) would share them with our officers in a constructive manner. If I were in IR or accounting, I would welcome any written materials that I could get my hands on to help me in my dealings with WS.
