The qualification approval was extremely difficult and stressful. We didn't pass the first time even though an independent lab had tested and passed us. This isn't uncommon. It's the norm. It wasn't so much joyous as it was a relief when we passed. We always knew we would pass, but until it actually happened we were under a lot of stress. So that locks up out qualification approval for 5 years. After that we have to requalify, but the rest is much easier and you're given the benefit of the doubt when there is a borderline issue. On the first qualification there's no such thing.

In a few months we are going to attempt a new and additional qualification. Bearings are tested to run for 25,000 cycles. There is another qualification for a "super bearing" that runs for 100,000 cycles. Based on ours and the Navy's analysis we believe our parts can pass that test. We would be one of only three manufacturers approved. We will probably start on this test later this year.
