The problem with what you suggest was that when CANV hit $200 in Feb, 2014, it was in the middle of a 10M share restricted offering at $1 and had just converted a $6M debt to 10M shares (for Roen Ventures).
When CANV hit $200, because the 2013 10-K wasn't going to be filed for another month, most people didn't know that the share count had ballooned by 20M since the 3Q/13 10-Q filing, and so thought that the OS was only 11.7M shares, when it actually was 32.8M.
If they were going to do what you suggest, they should have done a regular share offering in Nov, 2013 instead of the $1 restricted offering, but that could have been complicated by the $0.60/share Roen conversion.
