You're extrapolating A) a few people, B) on this computer/investing board, to represent anything close to the general public's computer usage patterns?

No, now you're extrapolating. I just don't think 1 in 1,000 is anywhere's near accurate. This is not a scientific poll any more than yours is. I'd guess it's greater than 1 in 20.
