The US DOE is in favor of switching to formic acid. Fire ants have no permit requirements to carry their on board formic acid. Formic acid is biodegradeable and non-flammable, unlike gasoline, hydrogen, methane, and methanol, that can all blow up, explode and methanol is very toxic, gasoline is not biodegradable.....and H2 has no delivery infrastructure for a reason, after 40 years it is still DOA.

The US DOE and major universities have been promoting and researching the advantages of switching to formic acid for fuel cell power for a decade now and Mvtg has been awarded, issued US and UK patents now on working formic acid fuel cells that have eliminated the failure prone PEM membranes that are so costly that no one has yet made any serious effort to use Ballard/PLUG fuel cells in cars yet due to the upfront hardware costs. The MVTG fuel cells will cost 5 times less than Ballard / PLUG PEM fuel cells.
How will PLUG compete with that?
