I would like attention paid to this post since my father experienced sepsis from the chemo drug Erbitux given to him and nothing else. His Oncologist continued this SOC to him knowing full well that my father got sepsis after each treatment, he only altered my father's schedule of the drug by delaying its administration until my father felt better which delayed his treatments by a couple of weeks. Again my father was in his late 80's and was not at death doorsteps from colon cancer nor from sepsis. I was more concerned with disabling his immune system than from the effects off colon cancer at the end of his life and rather he had a higher quality without Erbitux and letting the cancer spread being immunocompromised although the cancer previously took a tremendous toll on him...he lost half his liver due to the cancer metastasizing from his colon to his liver, and to his lungs where he got radiation treatment and finally to his brain and stomach, not necessarily in that order. Chemo brain destroyed his quality off life, and while sepsis was a hassle he recovered each and every time from that with antibiotics once realized.
