Apple rumored entry-level iPhone 6C to be made by Wistron
Aaron Lee, Taipei; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Thursday 26 March 2015]
Apple is reportedly planning to unveil a new range of iPhones in the second half, and among the new smartphones, the 4-inch entry-level iPhone 6C is expected to be manufactured by Wistron, according to sources from the upstream supply chain. However, the ODM declined to comment on clients or orders.

Wistron and Compal Electronics recently joined as manufacturing partners of Apple. Wistron is mainly handling the vendor's previous-generation iPhones while Compal assembles iPads.

To strengthen its competitiveness, Wistron established a touch panel business a few years ago, originally targeting the touchscreen notebook market; however, the business landed orders from Apple in 2014 for laminating touch panels for the iPhone 5 and the partnership later helped Wistron to receive orders for manufacturing the whole iPhone, and to be in charge of the upcoming iPhone 6C, the sources noted.

During its recent investors, Wistron noted that its mobile communications product shipments will reach 25 million units with an annual growth of 25% and its handheld device business will be the main revenue contributor of 2015.
