Ford has a new pickup, and it’s not the F-150.

A redesigned Ranger midsize truck was revealed today at the Bangkok Auto Show.

The updated crew cab now features the Ford family’s hexagonal grille, an updated interior design that looks more like a crossover’s than a commercial truck’s and a laundry list of high tech driver aids.

Among them are a lane keeping assists system, adaptive radar cruise control and a driver alert that does its best to wake you up if you’re driving style indicates that you’re getting drowsy behind the wheel

.
But don’t think it’s gone soft. The Ranger is still a body-on-frame truck with a real-deal 4x4 system with an electronically controlled transfer case and locking rear differential.

Three engines are available, each with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission: a 3.2-liter diesel 5-cylinder with 347 lb-ft of torque; a 2.5-liter gasoline 4-cylinder; and a 2.2-liter diesel 4-cylinder offered in two power levels, depending on what country the truck is sold in.

Ford says it’ll be available in 180 markets worldwide, but don’t go looking for it in downtown Des Moines, because as has been the case since 2012, the United States is one place this global off-roader doesn't go.
