It's what you said. "AMD shipping the first low speed batch to HP". That implies that AMD's other customers get a better deal by the time the product launches.

Re: P4 will be 3.2 Ghz by then. The tipical business $999 desktop will ship with P4 2.8 Ghz or Barton 2800. This chip will be faster than both of them.

And I'm sure some AMD enthusiasts still believe the Athlon XP 3200+ is faster than a 3.0GHz Pentium 4, even though they easily have the skills to check out the benchmarks for themselves.
