Over 1.7 Million Mobile WiMAX Users Expected by '07, 21 Million by '12

The number of Mobile WiMAX subscribers could be 1.7 million in 2007 and reach as high as 21.3 million in 2012, according to a study from Juniper Research. The number of subscribers will begin to climb after the release of certified equipment in 2007, with substantial growth occurring in North America and in developing regions eschewing 3G for Mobile WiMAX based on OFDMA. Juniper's study sees WiMAX serving customers in both fixed and wireless markets and estimates that the market for equipment could be worth US$2.53 billion by 2012.
