Ambassador Salleo is Chairman of Bipop Espana Holding, in Spain and Vice Chairman of MCC S.p.A., a Rome merchant bank. He had served for over forty years in the Italian Foreign Service. Ambassador Salleo was Italy’s ambassador to the United States from 1995-2003, and previously ambassador to the Soviet Union/Russian Federation from 1989--1993. He previously served in a variety of diplomatic posts in Paris, Prague and Bonn, as well as senior positions in the Italian Foreign Ministry, including Secretary General. Ambassador Salleo has written widely for a number of magazines and journals on international relations and foreign policy topics and is today an editorial page contributor to La Repubblica.
