Carlos, sadly the facts you've stated about corrupt government and business there in Panama is a lesson many of us have unfortunately learned the hard way. Fifer and his mining Company are perfect examples of it. No credibility whatsoever.

This corrupt situation didn't start with Martinelli and won't end there either. It's been going on I would bet since the inception of the country and is embedded into the culture there. I would guess the whole system there works from a "you scratch my back, I scratch your back" or you pay me off and I'll let you operate your business mentality. This is the picture I've gotten from following dealings in Panama.

The Politicians and Business people in Panama IMO have serious credibility/trust issues. I would be curious to know if just about every regime there hasn't had these problems after leaving office, if not while stlll in office? I'm sure you have a better knowledge of that history than I do, but this is the biggest problem I see with this country.
