He isn't quite the 2002 Schilling he was painting himself to be, but on the other hand, he isn't the 2005 version either.
He doesn't have the same zip on the ball he did in his younger days and last night it was mostly a matter of command. Those homers were right down the middle of the plate.
My guess is he will win around 15-17 games with a final ERA between 3.75 and 4.00. Not great, but good enough to be a factor in the AL East race.
His weight loss is suppossedly from being more mobile this winter which allowed him to exercise more.
Beckett was encouraging as his replacement ace in the first game after giving up Giambi's blast, but he has been either brilliant or awful in his starts to date, so I feel the jury is out on him.
