catty, BABA does not consist of just BABA! They own various marketing platforms: Taobao, Tmall, Juhuasuan, AliExpress, 1688, AliMama, AliYun. Also, Ant Financial and Cainiao. They are on an aggressive acquisition spree, acquiring numerous majority and minority stakes in companies, such as: WEIBO, China Vision Holdings, and car sharing service LYFT. They took over the operation of China Yahoo. They formed the Alibaba R&D Institute. Alibaba is 50% owner of the Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club (2013 Champion League). They own the Chinese Mobil Internet (UCWeb). They provide electronic payment services. Alibaba is in talks with India to expand worldwide. They recently entered talks to buy their own bank (I forget the name, it was in last weeks news). A month or so ago they were in California (Hollywood, Los Angeles) on a fact finding mission to get into films (they want to buy a studio). They own their own transportation (delivery) company.
