OT: Power Failures

My sister just installed a small natural gas powered generator that is sufficient to keep her home powered up.

It's completely automatic including a weekly self test, requires maintenance after 200 hours of usage, is much smaller than I'd have expected - not much larger than an outdoor A/C and cost less than $10K Cdn installed.

If power failures are a major concern for you (imagined or real), this is a practical and safe solution.
