Yes. This is what the US Gov. is trying to do.

The side effect is that it causes inflation but this gov. is not worried about inflation, (at least at this time) and may be rightly so because it would counterbalance the deflation being imported from China and other countries of the Pacific rim.

Now the real interesting part (for me at least) is that Europe is trying to get out of "its" recession by exactly the same means. (Weaking its currency)

Problem is that currecy has to be weaken against other currencies. (There's no absolute measure, and don't say "gold")

It's like two elevators going down at the same time. At this moment it looks like US is winning the devaluation game, but this game is far from over...

Interesting times we are living in.

All in my humble opinion, of course.
