The salutary effects of melatonin and magnesium are new to many people. Your pineal gland in your brain produces melatonin which helps maintain a healthy circadian rhythm and restful sleep. As we age that gland atrophies or weakens and doesn't produce robust amounts of melatonin. Hence, elderly people have a hard to initiating and maintaining restful sleep. Magnesium is a mineral important in maintaining neuromuscular health, including heart health.
