No reduction, just timing. If you want a settlement that will be paid on the spot, the settlement is around 20. That's the New Years Eve special give or take 5 mil. On the other hand, if you are willing to wait for a jury verdict, or a court house steps settlement, or something in between along the way, then the number will be higher. If you want to wait for a jury verdict it is doubtful there will be J&J money to spend for another 24-30 months, because J&J will appeal everything, even the color of the judge's socks. But there will be bragging rights. I would accept that, but I would also like to see a successful product because the best outcome resulting from adversity, is living well. As my partner says, the continuum for settlement grades from tin to platinum. I believe we are at silver moving toward gold.
