Yeah options can go either way.

I too got burned by the Oct 2014 calls. At the time they were the longest dated options available and thought ASCO and HE would increase share price.

Not wanting to get totally burned again I proceeded to buy the Jan 2017 $3 calls. I think this should get us through some more positive news.

I love selling options but you have to be VERY careful.

Certain options have a greater chance of "expiring worthless".

For example deep "in the money" options are less likely to expire worthless than deep "out of the money" options.

I've always treated the deep "out of the money" options as lottery tickets.

The bad thing with options is that you do not receive dividends(if any) and cannot vote the shares it represents.

Options are not for everyone but for the savvy investor can increase your returns tremendously.
