Hi Allen, Re: Newport histories................

Newport will build the histories for you. It's somewhat tedious, but will work.

Install Newport to a directory. Open Newport but set the date to the "Start" date of that investment. From the main menu choose Add a Stock and put in the ticker, etc. (remember to make the ticker 5 characters long)

Exit Newport and then open it up again. This time set the date to today. Newport will prompt you to enter the price/share for the week after your "Start" date and for every week from then to now.

In the past when doing such things, I'd just use the same price for each week of the month then change to the next month's price. It saved time and if there were no trades, it didn't matter.

Once the history is built, then if there have been trades along the way, enter those with the TRADE menu. Select either Buy or Sell. Be sure to enter the DATE the trade was done, then the # of shares, then the price/share.

The graphs will reflect the history of the investment as well as any trades that have occurred along the way.

This is sort of the brute force way of building histories, but it works. In the Newport files (both Stock.NPT and the HST files) there are hidden "end of file" key strokes that need to be in place. So, switching an Excel file to comma delimited and creating an HST file from it might not pick up or add the appropriate hidden strokes.

Best regards,
