Question: Why write stock symbols with a dollar sign in front, as in $BRK

Eh, that's too easy of a question. Posting a "$" along with a stock ticker, makes that stock more... powerful! It's like sending an osmotic power boost through the Internet vapors to the MM computer. Like dosing your favorite microcrap stock with prune juice in the morning.

Not only that, but it comes in different power levels...

If you feel smug in a microcrap stock running like BKEN today, then just ending your post with "BKEN." is sufficient. Let the critter know, you're still there, watching it.

If your trade is in the mud bottom, then something like $TRII$ is in order. Or even a doublet: $$TRII TRII$$. Depending on whether the catfish are biting the toes or not.

Finally if a prior suspended grey, then its time to boost the power amps up as in $$$KMAG$$$!!! Best to include it in the post title, and to end the post with the same.

Presumably for Zombie stocks 15-20 "$"s would be needed. Current has a strange, and unpredictable effect on Zombies.
