I want to remind everyone that J&J typically settles its IP litigations by having the "offending" product removed from the market, or by limiting sales of the "offending" product. If the motivating factor for this recent mediation push is to sell their Lifescan division to its chief competitor, then be assured that the chief competitor is not going to take on a new product, a new business model, spend a couple of billion $$, AND take on a newly wealthy DECN all at the same time.

DECN can end up famous (a legend actually) and infamous at the same time. Quite a feat.

If I were DECN I would turn down the mediation but conduct back-door discussions, but only after I put out news that the mediation was rejected as premature.

But that's just me. IMO there are a whole slew of people who would sell their souls for a quick double even if it leaves piles of money on the table.
