What apple wanted from GTAT? To make 578 pounds sapphire furnace for apple or just make sapphire for apple? Did apple check the sapphire made by 578 pounds furnace before signing the contract? Did apple know before signing the contract that most of the furnaces which are made and sold by GTAT are 378 pounds ones? If they were aware of all this and apple still agreed with GTAT to make and use 578 pounds furnaces and make sapphire from those furnaces.
If you follow all the changes made and requirements changes and review them thoroughly. If you get answers of these questions and see how things changed as the time passed then we might have better answer of all this.
If they did not follow technical recommendation of GTAT to install backup power supply for furnaces. Read minimum requirements to build a stable manufacturing facility and also compare them with other major construction projects where technical recommendation were not followed or followed and compare the success and failure rates of both types of projects then it will be all crystal clear.
