Rolen sidelined by bronchitis

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis third baseman Scott Rolen was not in the Cardinals' starting lineup Tuesday after visiting a doctor for a bout of bronchitis.
Trainer Barry Weinberg said Rolen, who complained of fever and general aches on Monday, would be kept away from the ballpark as a precaution. Scott Spiezio started at third against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Jim Edmonds batted cleanup, Rolen's usual spot.
"He's quarantined," Weinberg said. "I don't want him to affect anybody that can help us. Right now he can't help us."
Weinberg said a precautionary X-ray ruled out pneumonia.
Manager Tony La Russa said he doubted that Rolen would play Thursday. Rolen is batting .313 with three homers and 13 RBIs in 19 games.
