I think it was the old used car salesman hook that got most of them: "this one ain't gonna last long at this price folks". In short, greed, and fear of missing out. The urbster just managed to hit at the right time...right when a lot of gullible Americans were thinking that Canada was chock full of diamonds ripe for the picking.
