Actually, large corporations hire patent attorneys that specialize in the area of interest to review current patents.

If a corporation is interested in fuel cells or fuel cell competitors they hire attorneys familiar with the field to evaluate new patents for possible acquisition or to prepare to defend against. Strong patents with promising technology are then presented to the corporate specialists for technical evaluation.

Not encouraging for Mantra unless...

they have a pre-existing arrangement with Alstom/Lafarge or.....

Large corporations hire the best consultants (i.e. patent attorneys) in a field because it's cheap relative to the gains or losses they might incur otherwise. It's standard practice.
