WJ Communications Showcases Over 10 New Semiconductors at IMS 2003
Pennsylvania Convention Center - Philadelphia, June 8-13, 2003
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jun 6, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- WJ Communications, Inc (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of high-performance RF semiconductors and multi-chip modules, today announced that it will showcase more than 10 new products at the 2003 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS) and Exhibition. IMS2003 will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA, June 8-13, 2003. Dual-branch downconverters (CV2xx Series), variable gain amplifiers (VGA1xx Series), 0.25 to 2.0 W HBT amplifiers (AH Series), 2.0 W HFET (FP31QF), high-gain/linearity 0.5 W amplifier (AH103) and a variety of other WJ RFICs will be on display in the company's exhibit, booth #2137.
"WJ continues to rapidly expand its product lines and now offers its wireless infrastructure and wireless OEM customers a wide-variety of high-performance products," stated Javed Patel, senior vice president of sales and marketing at WJ Communications. "In addition to broadening our product line, we are offering aggressive pricing while still guaranteeing high quality and reliability. This compelling value proposition of WJ's products is becoming increasingly evident."
New Semiconductor Products
Dual-Branch Downconverters -- The performance characteristics of WJ's expanding CV line of integrated converters enable engineers to meet a wide range of design requirements for various infrastructure communication applications. These new devices meet the growing demands of new wireless systems in Europe and Asia. The CV211-2 and CV211-3 target the UMTS and W-CDMA / IMT2000 bands. Each converter includes high-linearity amplification, frequency conversion, IF amplification and LO driver amplification in a 6 x 6 mm, 28-pin QFN package. Customized filtering can be enabled externally. These MCMs are realized with reliable and mature GaAs MESFET and InGaP HBT technologies.

Variable Gain Amplifiers -- Our recently released VG series variable gain amplifier line is the industry's first to integrate high performance amplifiers and attenuators within a single package. Superior thermal design allows the products to have a minimum MTTF rating of over 100 years at a mounting temperature of +85(degree)C. The combination of high gain, low NF, and constant IP3 over a wide gain control range make these devices the best-in-class for base station transmitter and receiver chains that process complex digital modulation formats such as CDMA, GSM, PCS and UMTS. The VG101 and VG111 are packaged in a 6 x 6 mm, 28-pin QFN.

2 Watt HFET - The FP31QF operates over the 50-4000 MHz frequency range. In cellular, PCS and UMTS applications, output power at 1dB compression is typically +34 dBm with a corresponding output third order intercept point of +48 dBm. Gain is 18 dB at 900 MHz. The FP31QF is packaged in a thermally-efficient, low-profile 6 x 6 mm QFN package and operates from a +9V drain bias with 450 mA of quiescent current.
High Gain, High Linearity 0.5 Watt Amplifier -- The AH103 uses WJ's patented GaAs MESFET process technology and has an MTBF of greater than 100 years at a mounting temperature of 85 degrees C. The amplifier consists of two separate MMIC amplifiers and allows for external inter-stage filtering or matching to best optimize performance for broadband or narrowband applications such as GSM, W-CDMA, CDMA, TDMA and UMTS infrastructure. The AH103 is tunable over the 70 - 2200 MHz frequency range and has the following performance: 29 dB gain, +27 dBm P1dB, +45 dBm output IP3. This performance along with excellent ACPR makes the AH103 an ideal driver amplifier for wireless and other applications where signal linearity is important.
