Why? The signal detected by VOIS device should be more like EEG. In contrast, the facial muscle movements like moving eyeball, moving mouth might have a big effect on the signals detected by Emotive's headset. The muscle movements can trigger electronic signals that spreads and are detected by a headset sensor on forehead. However, when sensor inserts into ear canal, this interference should be much less and EEG might be more truthfully detected.
In a previous PR, VOIS claimed that compared to a headset, EEG signal detected by an ear device shows some advantage. This, actually, is the fundamental of the VOIS' device. If company can convincingly show this difference ONLY, PPS should be much higher than current price.
It is not hard to show this if their claim holds true.
First, turn on the device and the signal receiver which is a computer. Make the device, Bluetooth, computer at ON status
Before inserting the sensor into ear canal, the signal shown on the screen of the computer should be a horizontal line...baseline.
Then, insert sensor into ear canal, EEG signal should be detected and shown on the screen. Pay attention to the shapes of the waves.
Repeat this with Emotive's headset, show the differences between two sets of EEG signals: clear wave, less noises in VOIS' EEG or some other features.
Test VOIS' device again, this time, put it on the surface of the chest, it should detect ECG derived from electronic signals of heart beeping (another positive control).
Then put VOIS' device on the foot skin, no signal or just little noises (negative control).
Insert device into ear canal again, show EEG signals on the screen.
Compare various signals on the same screen, show specificity of EEG and advantage of VOIS' device.
This is important because this is the basis of all applications later.
Is this hard to show? Not at all if the device works perfectly.
Right?!
