The management are just complete idiots.

Seriously, especially if the tech is even remotely real, this is so insanely idiotic I can't even begin to describe. The only possible explanation that makes sense is the tech doesn't actually work and we've been led into a scam. Otherwise this behavior makes no sense to me. Why is Joe Abrams even here? Did he even bother to check out the tech?
