Ofcom updates on ‘White Space’ trials

Next generation WiFi and city sensing: The University of Strathclyde’s Centre for White Space Communications has been working with Microsoft, 6Harmonics, MediaTek, Spectrum Bridge, and Sky – with backing from the Scottish Government. The pilot explores how the latest technology, including triple-band Wi-Fi, can enhance internet coverage in indoor and outdoor urban locations and enable ‘smart city’ functionality, including linking webcams and other sensors.

InterDigital Unveils 3.5GHz Shared Spectrum Radio Solution Enabling Guaranteed QoS

InterDigital's 3.5GHz and TVWS dual transceiver with guaranteed QoS service software in conjunction with Spectrum Bridge's shared spectrum database is being demonstrated this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The solution addresses a key component of shared spectrum usage, which is an interference-free quality of service in 3.5GHz band, recently proposed by the President's Council of Advisers of Science and Technology (PCAST).
