In Pearlstein's supposed apology letter, he still stands by the fact that he is a NWBO fan and believes AF isn't playing to journalistic standards of fair and balanced reporting, he still thinks AF is out to get NWBO with all negative articles. He only stated for the record, so there can ne no misunderstanding in a court of law that he didn't say AF committed fraud by conspiring with shorters to lower NWBO's pps or that AF had any financial interest in which to personally benefit from such activity.
Look Pearlstein never said any of the such, obviously the lawyers told him just to make that clear. And I assume with the SEC possibly looking into AF, AF's lawyers wanted to reduce some of the fuel that is possible going to burn AF.
If I wrote Pearlstein's article I would have covered my arse too and probably included such a statement in the article, since it cannot be known or easily proven.
