Early commercial-grade BMGs fabricated through die-casting were well-known for having carbide inclusions from the graphite casting crucible, excessive oxygen content from poor vacuums, unknown compositions (due to the use of pre-curser materials with unknown concentrations of impurities), low fracture toughness and low fatigue limits.[24] Supplementary Figures 3–5 show an early casting mold and various low-grade components that failed. In the current work, a new injection casting technology is implemented to fabricate the bistable CM shown in Figure 2.[24, 25]
